Personal advice

The winemaker
Champagne Régis Poissinet is a family business from Cuchery, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, where the family has tended vines for generations. The estate was founded in 1947, and in 1974 the first bottles were released under its own name. In 2008 Régis Poissinet took over the estate and set in motion a profound cultural and philosophical change: he committed radically to biodynamic viticulture, with a living, balanced soil as the foundation for expressive champagnes. Today he works alongside the sixth generation, his son-in-law Maxime, who is actively involved in vineyard and cellar.
From the estate

Where the grapes grow
- Cuchery (thuisbasis, rechteroever): klei-kalksteen, in Les Clos Paillot met silex; spanning en een rokerige vuursteentoets
- Baslieux-sous-Châtillon (rechteroever): klei-kalksteen; frisse, strak gesneden meunier

Craftsmanship & philosophy
Régis Poissinet follows a biodynamic approach without herbicides or synthetic products. Soil fertility is strengthened with homemade compost, and encouraging fauna and flora is central to the work. In 2022 the estate was officially certified organic. The philosophy in the cellar follows on seamlessly: spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention, ageing in both stainless steel and oak barrels, low sulphite dosing and an extremely restrained use of dosage.
Style & highlights
Régis Poissinet's champagnes are linear, lively and energetic. What sets his wines apart is the pronounced minerality and salinity that runs through the entire range, a rarity in this region of Champagne. They show a layered aromatic profile, with primary, secondary and tertiary aromas. The estate is among the pioneers of a new, nature-driven movement in Champagne, where craftsmanship, terroir and personality take centre stage.
