The winemaker

Champagne Henry de Vaugency is a family business with a rich history dating back to 1732. The craftsmanship is passed down from father to son, and today the eighth generation is at the helm. This long heritage guarantees profound knowledge of Chardonnay and traditional winemaking.

The terroir

The estate lies in Oger, in the heart of the prestigious Côte des Blancs. This Grand Cru village is renowned for its chalky soils and optimal climatic conditions, ideal for cultivating high-quality Chardonnay. All the grapes that Henry de Vaugency uses come exclusively from this village, underlining its status as a Grand Cru champagne.

  • Oger (Grand Cru, 100% op de échelle des crus): krijtbodem die overal aan de oppervlakte komt; spanning, zoutige mineraliteit en rijpe rijkdom in de chardonnay
  • Oosthellingen van de Côte des Blancs: beschut tegen de westenwind, ochtendzon op het krijt; langzame, volledige rijping met behoud van frisheid
  • 7,32 hectare, volledig binnen Oger: mono-cru en mono-cépage; het huis bottelt letterlijk één dorp

De volledige 7,32 hectare is beplant met chardonnay: 100% Grand Cru, 100% Oger.

The first but certainly not the last time!
