Productinformatie
The Bacchus 55 comes from L'Intense, the line Lehmann designed together with sommelier Fabrice Sommier. Lehmann calls it a universal glass: for champagne, and just as much for white wine, rosé and red wine. The glass has a sparkling point, a small spot at the bottom of the bowl where the bubbles form. That way, champagne keeps a fine, steady bead. In the 55 cl bowl, 98 mm at its widest, a still wine has plenty of room to open up.
The shape is clean-lined: an angular, V-shaped base at the bottom, and above it straight sides that narrow markedly towards the rim. According to Lehmann, the bowl is made for a 10 cl pour, which comes up to roughly the widest point. The stem is reinforced and 6 mm thick, and the foot is round and flat. The glass carries the Lehmann signature.

The L'Intense collection
For L'Intense, Lehmann worked with Fabrice Sommier, a sommelier who holds the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Lehmann presented the Bacchus 55 together with the Hera 39 as two new universal glasses, with a clean yet sturdy design. The Hera has the same construction but is smaller and slimmer: 39 cl and 84 mm wide. Looking for a large glass just for red wine? Take a look at the Ariane 72 Ultralight from the same line.
Care
The glass is dishwasher safe, preferably on a glassware programme. Washing by hand in hot water without detergent gives the finest result. Dry with a microfibre cloth and never twist the foot and the bowl in opposite directions, or the stem will snap.
About Lehmann
Lehmann is a house from Reims, in the heart of Champagne, specialising in wine and champagne glasses. Its collections are conceived and designed in Reims, the Signature lines in collaboration with sommeliers and chefs. The glass itself is made by selected glassworks within the European Union, and all its tasting glasses are made of cristallin, lead-free crystal. On the machine-blown lines the rim is cold-cut. According to Lehmann, this produces a strong glass that stands up to daily use and still comes close to the finesse of mouth-blown crystal.
