A closer look at the glass
What makes this glass different
Each number on the photo matches a point in the list.

-
Narrower towards the rim
The bowl narrows again towards the rim. According to Lehmann, a narrower top like this concentrates the wine's aromas.
-
40 cl champagne glass
Lehmann lists this glass among the champagne glasses. It holds 40 cl; the glass is 237 mm tall and 83 mm wide.
-
Ultralight, fine and light
The glass is made using Ultralight, a technique Lehmann worked on for two years. According to Lehmann, this technique combines fineness and lightness.
-
5 mm stem
According to Lehmann's Ultralight leaflet, machine-blown Ultralight glass has a 5 mm stem, compared with 6 mm for ordinary machine-blown glass. In that leaflet, Lehmann lists this glass, as N°4#, among the machine-blown Ultralight glasses.
-
Machine-blown
The glass is machine-blown. According to Lehmann, this process and the cold cutting give the glass great durability and strength, while it approaches the fineness and clarity of the mouth-blown collections.
-
Cristallin, lead-free crystal
The glass is made of Cristallin, crystal without lead. Lehmann cites brilliance, clarity and resonance as characteristics of this material.
-
Created with Arnaud Lallement
Lehmann created La Délicate with Arnaud Lallement, a chef with three Michelin stars. He wanted the collection to match his cuisine, which he calls very straight and pure.
-
Dishwasher safe
The glass can go in the dishwasher, preferably on a glassware programme. Lehmann does, however, recommend washing it by hand in warm water without detergent.
-
0.7 mm rim
According to Lehmann's Ultralight leaflet, machine-blown Ultralight glass has a 0.7 mm rim, compared with 1 mm for ordinary machine-blown glass. In that leaflet, Lehmann lists this glass, as N°4#, among the machine-blown Ultralight glasses.
Productinformatie
The N°4 40 Ultralight (listed by Lehmann as N°4#) is a champagne glass from La Délicate, the Signature line Lehmann created with Arnaud Lallement, a chef with three Michelin stars. It has the shape of a slender wine glass rather than a narrow flute. The bowl holds 40 cl and measures 83 mm at its widest point. Towards the top, the sides draw inwards in a long, calm line to a thin rim. In that narrower opening, the aromas of the champagne stay together.
At the bottom, the bowl tapers to a point and flows without a knop or thickening into a thin, straight stem on a flat, thin foot. The glass is 237 mm tall and machine-blown using Ultralight, the process Lehmann spent two years researching to combine finesse and lightness. Each glass carries the Lehmann signature.

The La Délicate collection
Lehmann calls the curves of La Délicate timeless and subtle, and writes that they bring out the complexity and richness of exceptional terroirs with precision. The line includes both mouth-blown and machine-blown glasses. From the same line come the N°1 72 Ultralight and the N°3 60 Ultralight, machine-blown using Ultralight like this glass. Of those three, the N°4 is the slimmest, and the only one Lehmann recommends for champagne alone. If you also pour wine with the meal, the N°3 60 Ultralight is the universal glass, for champagne, white, rosé and red. The N°1 72 Ultralight is more generous and intended for red wine. If you are looking for a smaller champagne glass, La Délicate has the 30 cl M5.
Care
The glass is dishwasher safe, preferably on a glassware programme. Washing by hand in hot water without detergent gives the finest result. Dry with a microfibre cloth and never twist the foot and the bowl in opposite directions, or the stem will snap.
About Lehmann
Lehmann is a house from Reims, in the heart of Champagne, specialising in wine and champagne glasses. Its collections are conceived and designed in Reims, the Signature lines in collaboration with sommeliers and chefs. The glass itself is made by selected glassworks within the European Union, and all its tasting glasses are made of cristallin, lead-free crystal. On the machine-blown lines the rim is cold-cut. According to Lehmann, this produces a strong glass that stands up to daily use and still comes close to the finesse of mouth-blown crystal.
