Champagne La Villesenière - Harmony 2018

Champagne La Villesenière - Harmony 2018

In the tranquil hills of Boursault, on the left bank of the Marne, Laurence and Cyrille Michez find the balance between nature and craftsmanship that makes their champagnes unique. Their estate, La Villesenière, operates according to the principles of living terroir: respect for the soil, biodiversity in the vineyard, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Harmony 2018 embodies exactly what its name promises: a perfect balance of power, freshness, and depth, born from a single harvest and the pure energy of the earth.

This cuvée combines 45% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier, the three Champagne grapes in their most natural interplay. Sourced from 55-year-old vines on clay and limestone soils, only the first press juice (Cuvée A) was used for fermentation and aging, entirely in oak. Malolactic fermentation was carried out to soften the acidity, while a minimum dosage of just 1 g/L accentuates the pure expression of the terroir. Only 2,300 bottles were produced: each one a meticulous expression of balance and finesse.

Light golden yellow in color with an elegant, fine mousse. The nose reveals aromas of ripe citrus, white peach, and toasted bread, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and nuts from the barrel aging. The palate is refined and harmonious: the Chardonnay brings freshness and elegance, the Pinot Noir strength and structure, and the Meunier a soft, fruity roundness. The balance between tension and smoothness makes Harmony 2018 a versatile and gastronomic champagne. The finish is long, mineral, and pure, a sublime interplay of terroir and time.

    Serve between 8 and 12°C.
Store in a cool, dark place.
  • Productieproces

The 2018 harvest was hand-picked, with strict bunch selection in the vineyard. Only the first press juice, sourced from old vines, was selected. The entire alcoholic fermentation and aging took place in oak barrels, with regular bâtonnage to promote complexity and structure. Malolactic fermentation was carried out to achieve a softer, harmonious texture. Before clarification, a light filtration was used to give the wine clarity without losing its natural tension. A minimum dosage of 1 g/L was then added to preserve the wine's freshness and precision.

What is a Millésime or Vintage Champagne?

A Millésime (or Vintage Champagne) is made from grapes from just one exceptional harvest year and is aged in the bottle for at least three years. This type of Champagne perfectly reflects the climatic conditions of that particular year and often has a more complex and layered character than a non-vintage Champagne.

What is Extra Brut Champagne?

Extra Brut Champagne contains even less sugar than Brut, between 0 and 6 grams per liter. This results in an extra-dry style with pure, pronounced flavors. Extra Brut is popular with connoisseurs who appreciate a clean, mineral champagne with plenty of freshness.

What dynamics does wood give to Champagne?

When Champagne is aged in oak barrels, it adds extra structure, roundness, and complexity. The oak provides subtle oxidation, making the Champagne richer and fuller, with aromas of vanilla, toast, honey, and spices. This is often used in Champagnes with long aging and deep flavors.
