Making a Champagne Breakfast: 7 Quick Dishes

Short answer: you make a champagne breakfast with luxurious rolls (croissants, brie, smoked salmon), something sweet and fresh fruit, and of course a glass of bubbles. We have lined up 7 quick dishes that pair perfectly with champagne. A crisp brut or a rosé champagne works most beautifully at breakfast.

7 dishes for the champagne breakfast

Valentine's Day is something you celebrate together. Whether you spend it with your partner, friends or family. We celebrate love! Surprise the people you truly care about and show them what they mean to you.

And what better way to do that than to begin with the perfect start to the day. We selected tasty, quick breakfast dishes for the perfect champagne breakfast

1. Luxurious rolls

Delicious croissants, homemade or picked up at the bakery. The buttery quality of croissants goes well with a glass of bubbles. Savoury toppings such as brie, cheese, ham and salmon also pair nicely with champagne. A croissant with brie straight from the oven, for example, is a lovely treat. Besides savoury, you can also go for sweet toppings. The classic is a croissant with butter and jam. Chocolate is a good option too. Think of the chocolate croissant or pain au chocolat.

2. Toast

With toast you can hardly go wrong. It is remarkably easy and quick to prepare. On top of that, the crunch of toast pairs beautifully with champagne. There are endless variations when it comes to the toppings you enjoy with it. Wonderful combinations with champagne include salmon, pâté or soft cheeses. For an extra touch of luxury, serve various kinds of compote alongside.

3. Breakfast muffin

The breakfast muffin comes in many variations, from sweet to savoury. Think carefully about who you are making breakfast for and what they enjoy. The ingredients we used for this muffin are egg, bacon and spring onion. The saltiness of the bacon pairs wonderfully with champagne. You can of course also make it with spinach, mushrooms, salmon and even bread. All you need is a muffin tin or other oven-proof moulds, an oven and the ingredients! Put them in the oven for 25 minutes at 180 degrees. Super easy.

4. Apple crumble

This dish, too, comes in several variations. The apple crumble is a kind of mini apple pie and pairs well with champagne that is a touch sweeter than the Brut. That way the sweetness of the apple crumble stays nicely in balance with the champagne. Mix two diced apples with cinnamon, sugar and raisins and divide them between two dishes. In another bowl, combine flour and butter until a crumbly dough forms. Spread this over the two dishes and put them in the oven at 200 degrees for a quarter of an hour. Not such a fan of apples? Then experiment with other fruit.

5. Pastries

Are you making breakfast for a real sweet tooth? Then pastries certainly cannot be missing. But be careful, cakes, cupcakes and muffins are extremely tricky to combine with champagne. Try to choose pastries that are light, have a crunch and are not too sweet. You can drink a Brut with them, or when the pastry is a touch sweeter, a Sec champagne for example. Flavours of red fruit and chocolate (brownies with red fruit!) can, in the right pastry, form a lovely combination with a glass of bubbles.

6. Strawberries with chocolate sauce

Especially delicious with a rosé champagne. We used a left-over chocolate letter and melted it au bain-marie. Add a little milk for a smoother chocolate sauce. For a perfectly smooth chocolate sauce, use couverture chocolate. Want to go all out? Prepare a chocolate fountain or chocolate fondue with different kinds of fruit, cakes and biscuits.

7. Pancakes & Waffles

Pancakes and waffles are the perfect base for both savoury and sweet breakfast dishes. We prefer waffles or fluffy pancakes with red fruit and red-fruit sauce, or with mascarpone. A fun variation is the banana pancake with blueberries. Of course, chocolate goes very well here too. Think of dark chocolate spread, cacao nibs or chocolate sauce.
